The brainchild of multi-disciplinary artist Doug Aitken, Station to Station is “a living project exploring modern creativity.” Told in 62 one minute shorts, the Station to Station project invited musicians, contemporary artists and performers to board a train and travel 4,000 miles from the Atlantic to the Pacific. On a purpose build train equipped with makeshift studios artists collaborated and conversed about the nature of their art forms, creativity and inspiration. Shot over 24 days, this kaleidoscopic journey features recordings and live performances with an eclectic array of artists including Savages, Patti Smith, Ed Ruscha, Cat Power, Giorgio Moroder, William Eggleston and Jackson Browne amongst others. Rattling across the USA, the changing landscape and diversity of creative inspiration is unpacked in the purpose built train taking artists from one stop to the next.  Stopping in sleepy towns and large cities, Station to Station captures electric live performances from a range of performers including Thurston Moore, Beck, Dan Deacon plus the Kansas City Marching Cobras. Inspired by this initial journey, Doug Aitkin has since broadened the concept of …
