MOVIE | ‘Banksy Does New York’ | Currently Screening At Cinema Nova

No matter where you go in the Western world, the name Banksy continues to be a highlight of discussion and intrigue throughout a variety of members in our society. He has been described as a street artist, vandal, activist, social pest, sell-out and a whole bunch of other terms, depending on who you ask. All in all, Banksy is without a doubt, the artist of the last decade along with this one, through the creation of his thought provokingly engaging pieces, that may not be the most technical (or even pretty), but certainly deliver an intended message to a variety of on–lookers. He has painted in some of this planets biggest cities, while contrasting for a “spraycation” out to as far as New Orleans (post-Hurricane Katrina), The West Bank of Israel and, more recently, the war-torn rubble of The Gaza Strip. Amongst all of this, he set up a month-long residency throughout New York City in October of 2013, fittingly titled “Better Out Than In”, a euphemism on the work and the character of Banksy itself.
